Withywindle Gallery started as a small idea in a tiny store front in Guerneville. It soon expanded to a 700 sq ft. historic building in the same town. The idea was simple: create a space for stone carvers to show their creations, and make it easy for them to do so.

The concept has worked. Since its opening in 2004, the gallery has had over 20 different stone carvers show their work, including Jeff Steffens (San Francisco), Easton (Sebastopol), Robert Sorani (Santa Rosa), Ante Marinovic (Croatia), Robert Milhollin (Mendocino), Rod Neswick (Lake County) and has hosted the first show of new work in stone by acclaimed Bay Area artist, Jerrold Ballaine, including his innovative painted marbles.

Karen Ryer has had her work displayed all over Sonoma County (including Stone IV), and has a permanent presence in her own gallery. Here she has shown her old work in soapstone and alabaster, and her new work in marble. Also, she can be seen carving in the gallery garden on occasion, showing folks how it is done. She teaches classes, and has been promoting the work of stone carvers all over Northern California. Withywindle Gallery is the only gallery showing stone sculpture only. Here you will find stone figures, abstract pieces, and stone jewelry, not found in other galleries. All the artists are available for commissions, as well, and you can find links to many of the featured artists on the “Links” page of this website. The gallery is open Thursday through Sunday, 11 am to 4 pm, from April through December. Closed in the winter.
